Genre

Hi blogsters,
So, the task is to analyse a trailer with the NCIS conventions. I am analyzing 'Fast and Furious 6' as I find that there is a lot that can be talked about in the trailer.

Genre of film trailer: Action

Narrative: The two main characters Paul Walker and Vin Diesel are high class drivers, who know the ins and outs of driving the newest and latest cars. They link up with The Rock who also joins in with the findings of the new foreign criminals who have stolen money and cars. The story is basically the journey of these three men, along with their crew's, in order to capture the criminals. But is isn't as easy as it seems.

Characters: Criminals, Girlfriends, Police Forces, Gangster-ish people, Thugs.

Iconography: The issues that face this type of interest - cars, money, drugs etc..
The amount of people you have to get through to find the one mail                       criminal.

Setting: Partly America (NYC), and also Brazil (Rio De Janiero), however, they travel through small cities too.

Goodbye blogsters.

Just Dance 4 - Readers Profile

Hey Blogsters,
Today the task was to create an NME readers profile for a video game. The game that I chose was Just Dance 4 as its a well known game and many people can relate to it.

Here is what the finished readers profile looked like:

As you can see, the images in the NME reader profile are what are closely related to what the dance game would consist of ranging from drinks to famous celebrities.
Anyway,

Got to run blogsters,
Until next time.

Typology

Hey Blogsters,
Today's aim was to use Typology to get a certain affect on a word by using specific types of font, colour, shape and ect.

Here are the different words and fonts that I used to create affect on the blogster:

As you can see, the words represent the the way in which the words are written. For example: Emperor has a crown on top of it, as an Emperor is someone who has wealth and is rich, therefore can afford a crown. Also, its in bold letters that are also capital as it shows the Emperor is a dominant person.

As I've said, typology is a creative way that you can present the word in,
But until next time blogsters,
Toodles.

Camera Shots - Storyboard

Hey Blogsters,
Today, in my media lesson, we learnt about varying the shots we take with a camera. To do this, we created a short story to show how we differentiated each shot.

Story line along with the shot taken:

Camera Shot: Medium Shot
The new girl in school. This shot allows the viewer to see both the facial expression and the body language of the individual.
Camera Shot: Over the shoulder Shot
The new girl then meets 2 of her new colleagues thinking that they are all very friendly. In the image, the new student is shaking hands with her companions  This over the shoulder shot allows viewers to see that communication is taking place.
Camera Shot: Medium Shot
In this image, photographed in a different area, the who 'companions' are offering the new student a high class drug, as she feels threatened to take the illegal drug. The medium shot allows the viewer to see the emotion within the image.

Camera Shot: Extreme close up Shot
In this image, the new girl is looking worried and scared about consuming the drug that she has been offered. This shot shows the viewer the expression on her face.
Camera Shot: Long shot
Here, the two students are threatening the new girl to take the drug as she tried to break free. The long shot allows viewers to get a glimpse of the whole image and scene that is going on.
 Camera Shot: Medium Shot
After many threats the new girl takes the drug and there is one left in the bag. This shot shows emotion.
Camera Shot: Birds eye view
Another shot of her taking the drug.

Camera Shot: Wide Shot
Fortunately, the teacher catches the students in possesion of the drug.
Camera Shot: Wide Shot
Teacher rushes towards students. This shot shows the whole picture.
Camera Shot: Close up Shot
Teacher takes drug from the student, as he gives a sarcastic smirk. Again, shot shows emotion.
Camera Shot: Close up Shot
Last shot of the drug.

Anyway Blogsters,
that was the storyline for my short board.
Until next time,
Toodles.

Using Photoshop - Colour Workshop

Hey Blogsters,
Today in Media, again, I got to use the user-friendly software called Photoshop to create an image with a genre to it. The genre I was given was URBAN.

The image we were given was an image of a fruit pot, and we had to make it look as much like our genre as possible. This is what my fruit pot looked like:

The colours resembled the genre Urban as it includes colours like khaki, brown, brick red, and purple. After this, the next task was to create the same image however instead of just colouring in the picture, we had to get images off the internet, and paste them into the picture of the fruit pot.

Here's what it looked like:

The colours in this one are brighter, however the background of the flats make is seem more urbanized and fancy, even though it is very different to the dull colours in the previous image, it still matches the theme, which was why I made it brighter.

Anyway blogsters,
Until next time.

Video-game analysis - Print advert

Hey Blogsters,In my most recent blog, I spoke about a recent video game called Call of Duty, and similarly, this weeks work was to analyse a print advert of a recent video-game. So, I've decided to choose Fifa 13, a very popular football game.

Here is the print advert for the game:

Language
The language in the print advert suits the target audience, as the font is written to interest the teens and is also understandable in the way it is written. It also persuades the teens to buy the game as it says on the advert: 'step into a place where you make friends as fast as you make head lines', which will encourage them to buy or even pre-order the game, as it makes them gain friends.

Institution
The developer of Fifa 13 is EA Canada, and the publisher of the game is Electronic Arts.
The platforms for this game are: Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, PSP, PSVita, Wii, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS and Windows iOS. As you can tell, this game was clearly successful as it has more than one series and more to come, and also the amount of platforms that was game was able to be played on were more than any other video game released in 2013.

Audience
Fifa 13 is a game that ranges from the ages 12-18+, however kids of all ages play it as it is a universal game. Also, the game includes some of their role models for example: Lionel Messi and as you can see in the advert Karim Benzema also attracts his fellow followers to buy the game. However, the game is mostly falling upon the gender of males, despite the fact that some females might enjoy the game too.

Representation
Personally, I think that this game is represented suitably for the audience and that it is represented perfectly for the males and females to buy the product.

Anyway, toodles.

Video-game analysis - Summer Homework

Hey Blogsters,
So, the homework that was set to complete during the summer holidays was to analyse a video-game that has been published between the years 2010 and 2013. Here it goes.

Basic information
The name of the game I have chosen is called Call of Duty, also known as COD. The game was published on the 13th of November 2012, and has many series to it. The genre of the video-game is mostly action, as it includes the conventions of the World War. Also, prior to the game being such a hit, over 100 million copies were sold. Despite the fact that teens as young as 13 play this game, the age rating was 18 and over. The game was first introduced to the PC, however it then extended to PSP, Xbox and even the Wii.

Institutions
The developer of Call of Duty is Infinity Ward and the producer of the video-game is Activision.

Series
1. Call of Duty 1
2. Call of Duty 2
3. Call of Duty 3
4. Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare
5. Call of Duty - World at war
6. Call of Duty 5 - Modern Warfare 2
7. Call of Duty - Black Ops
8. Call of Duty 6 - Modern Warfare 3
9. Call of Duty - Black Ops 2
10. Call of Duty - Ghosts (available nov.2013)

Target Audience
The target audience for COD is 18+, however teens ranging from the ages 13-17 still play the game as the genre appeals to them, although I still don't think its socially good for teens as young as 13 to be playing this game, as it includes disturbing concepts such as killing, massacre and death.

Success?
Personally, I think due to the number of copies sold, and the number of continuous series that the game consisted of selling, the game was highly successful. Also, the game is still being talked about even though its already 2 years after it's release date.

There's abit about the video-game Call of Duty.
Until next time bloggers.

Media: Fourth Day- Using Photoshop

Hey Blogsters,
It's my forth day of doing Media GCSE, and it's going great. The aim today was to get to know the 'user-friendly' software: Photoshop.  Personally, I think it's very hard to use, but with the help of some teachers and students who are prone to this software, it gets easier.

After getting to know the software, it became easier to use and I produced an advert on Photoshop. The advert was aimed for a bank promotion, and it includes the different geniuses around the world. Usain Bolt, Albert Einstein, and Beethoven, are the three geniuses who are in my advert.

Here's a peak of what it looks like:

Overall, I was pretty impressed on how it turned out, bearing in mind that I'm not great at using Photoshop, as it was my first time. Hope you liked the ad.

I'll blog soon,
Toodles.

Media: Third Day- Video Game Promotion

Hey Blogsters,
Today is my third lesson for the move up days to Media GCSE. The task for today was to create a video game promotion to an upcoming game called 'Hunger Games: Training'. Personally, working in a group was very easy, as I'm a good team worker. Also, the roles given to one another matched what we were interested in doing, which benefitted the effort we put into the process.

I worked with Zubair and Laura. The roles we had were: Account Manager: Zubair, Art Director: Me, Finance Director: Zubair, and Creative ideas Director: Laura. We balanced out our roles very well as our money spent was enough and not too much. Also we prepared a power point presentation which enabled the viewers to get a great understanding of our project and promotion skills.

As I was the Art Director, I had to come up with drawing the logo, and the front cover, and after a long 2hours work, the team and I came up with some fantastic ideas!
Here is what they looked like:

Front cover:

Logo:

In my opinion, we worked very well as a team, as we didn't criticize or boss one another around. We got along, and mainly got the job done. It was great fun and it has made me look forward to starting Media even more next year.

Keep up with my blogs, I'll be blogging more often now,
Enjoy,
Toodles.

Media: Second Day- Video Analysis

Hey Blogsters, I'm back..
So, it's my second day doing Media GCSE, and I'm already loving it. Today we got told that our task was to analyse a video of our choice, to get a better incite of Media GCSE on a whole.

After alot of thought, I decided to chose the Music Video to the song 'Papaoutai' by 'Stromae', as I believe it has a strong meaning behind the song and video. Although the song itself is in French, the video is very understandable and well made to both entertain the audience and connect with them.

The word 'Papaoutai' means: 'Where is my Dad', and as shown by the video, the boy's Dad is a statue, and as he views all the other kids dancing with their Dad's, he has the constant question of 'Where is my Dad?' which is why the song is called 'Papaoutai'. Another reason as to why I like this video is because of the way it has been recorded. The old fashioned homes, and pastel colours used in the video, make it seem very un-ordinary and unique, which intrigues the viewer. However, at the end, both the Dad and Son turn to statues, which is what makes is quite sad at the same time, but the song then makes it upbeat.

The video has both dancing, singing and a great storyline within it, which is therefore suitable for all ages to watch. Also, it is very humorous as well as sad, which makes it even better. The platform for this video is mainly on Music channels called: 'NRJ hits' and 'M6 music black', as it is a French song and would not necessarily be shown on an English channel. Also, it can be found on Youtube.

Anyway, that was my task for my second move up Day, and I enjoyed telling you abit about the song and video.
I'll be back soon,
Toodles.

Media: First Day

Hey Blogsters,
So, it's the 26th of June 2013, and it's my first day of Media Studies! So exciting. I'm bracing myself for a new journey, a new class, and also a new teacher. My emotions are fairly mixed, with differentiating feelings of fear and nervousness, however, the feeling of excitement had dominated all of these.

So, I chose Media because I find the subject interesting, as well as challenging. Also, my sister had previously chosen this subject, and told me how intrigued the subject is.

By the end of this year, I hope to achieve a grade that I will be satisfied with. I also hope to enjoy the course as I embark upon it, and hope that I bond with my teacher, Mr. Matthews, as well as my class. Similarly, I would like to balance out my work load with a bit of relaxation, which means that I will also enjoy the GCSE more.

I have to run now, I will post another blog soon,
Toodles.
